Activity of the consortium
With a view to taking care of and promoting the interests of the associated member companies, Consorzio Puglia DOC has the task of:
- Carrying out promotional and marketing work, directly and jointly with the appropriate Bodies and the institutional organisms with an aim to increase the quantity and quality of the national and foreign tourist flow into the territory of Puglia; promoting, by means of direct activation or proposals lodged at the pertinent offices, the training and updating of professional skills of personnel employed in the tourist sector.
- Planning and managing integrated participation in Italy and abroad, of public and private operators in trade fairs, shows, events, educational workshops and any other special event useful to the promotion of the "Puglia DOC” product.
- Promoting and organising trade fairs and tourism meetings, workshops, educationals, conferences, shows, visits from economic operators and delegations with the aim of favouring the increase of arrivals and the tourist presence in the Puglia Region or rather global tourist development all over the territory; bringing about a collective brand name of quality to be called "Puglia DOC" with a view to singling out and qualifying structures, products and services.
- Drawing attention to and promoting food and wine products and those of local crafts particular to the territory in the conviction that these play an integral and substantial part in the “appeal” of the area for tourists; planning and carrying out pertinent and efficient marketing and communication strategies to acquire new clients and consolidate the longstanding clientele.
- Preparing and carrying out feasibility studies, market surveys and information centres for common purchases, fundamental services to help the work of the consortium and any other activity useful in making possibile, favouring and increasing the process of the development of tourism in Puglia; managing tourist structures independently or jointly with other partners;
- Buying or selling shares in other firms or Bodies relevant to the economic and tourist sector.
In particular,amongst the numerous initiatives already taken or participated in, we note:
- The organisation of EDUCATIONALS with journalists and and operators in the sector from various foreign countries amongst which Germany, Sweden, Great Britain, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands. The most important topics over the years have been:
- The history and traditions of Puglia;
- Puglia’s extra-virgin olive oil (from the harvesting to the processing of the olives)
- Puglia’s wines (with visits to the most famous producers of quality wines)
- Local products and handcrafts (with visits to cottage industries and workshops).
- Participation in the most important NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TOURISM TRADE FAIRS: STUTTGART, BRUSSELS, MUNICH, MILAN B.I.T., RIVA DEL GARDA, VERONA, LONDON, BERLIN, SALZBURG, ISTANBUL, PARIS, BEJING.
- Organisation of single -topic WORKSHOPS
- Organisation of GALA evenings with dinner organised by the Consortium to endorse local cuisine and Puglia’s D.O.C. wines in MONACO, BERLIN, LONDON, PARIS, ISTANBUL
- Participation in documentaries about the territory and region made both abroad and in Italy on the consortium’s own initiative or invited by other parties.
